Fulfilling activities

Positive engagement and meaningful stimulation

At Windmill Care, we put a great deal of emphasis on the different day to day activities that engage individuals and provide them with meaningful stimulation.

For some of our residents, it is the regular cake baking sessions that appeal most. For others it is woodworking or craft projects that give the greatest satisfaction. A perennial source of pleasure for many of our residents is working – or perhaps just advising staff – in the garden. Because of the strong relationships that are forged between residents and carers, we see excellent participation rates with group activities and games.

We also maintain good working relationships with local organisations, including churches, the library service and music groups. Residents particularly enjoy visits from our linked schools as well as helping with activities at local playgroups.

Through the regular residents’ meetings and other direct engagement, we discuss what people enjoy most, gather ideas for future activities and events and give everyone the chance to shape the social calendar.

We receive very positive feedback about the day trips and events that we organise throughout the year, from the garden party and barbecues, to our trips to the seaside and regular outings to local garden centres.
